Long before it became known as the royal seaport for Makkah in 657 AD, the Al-Balad site – now recognized as “Historic Jeddah” – was built on scenic coastal terrain. This enchanting area boasts a rich, fascinating history, founded in the seventh century and once serving as the vibrant heart of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. “Balad” translates simply as “The Town.” During our journey, we will wander through the ancient district, savor traditional dishes, and enjoy a lively shopping experience at the bazaar with delight.
