Zenobia Wreck Dive – Larnaca

The Zenobia Wreck is one of the world’s top 10 dive sites, offering an incredible underwater adventure for divers of all levels. This Swedish cargo ship sank in 1980, taking over 100 vehicles to the seabed, where they now rest at a depth of 16-42 meters. The wreck has become a thriving artificial reef, home to marine life such as barracudas, sea turtles, and moray eels.

Key Attractions: Fully intact cargo shipwreck (172m long), Exploring the sunken trucks and machinery inside the wreck, and Abundant marine biodiversity, including large schools of fish.

Best Time to Visit: Apr-Jun, July-Sep, Oct-Dec, best diving visibility and warm water temperatures)

Recommended Activities: Wreck diving (for certified divers), Underwater photography of the submerged vehicles, and Marine life observation.

Extra Notes:

• Open to both beginner and advanced divers (Shallow parts can be accessed by Open Water divers, while deeper sections require Advanced certification)
• Multiple diving centers in Larnaca offer guided dives
• Visibility is best in summer, but winter dives offer fewer crowds

• All entrance fees are extra paid at each location.

• Meet with certified dive instructors for an introduction to the Zenobia wreck.
• Safety briefing, dive plan overview, and equipment fitting (rental gear available if needed).
• Enjoy a seafood lunch at a marina-side restaurant (Recommended: Psarolimano Fish Tavern or Zephyros Restaurant).

📌 3:00 PM – Shallow Reef Dive for Acclimatization (For Beginners or Refresher Course)

• Explore a nearby reef or shipwreck in 10-15m depths (Tersanese Cave or HMS Cricket Wreck).
• Ensure comfort with buoyancy & equipment before diving Zenobia.

📌 6:00 PM – Sunset Drinks at Finikoudes Beachfront

• Relax with cocktails at Mackenzie Beach’s rooftop bars or beachfront cafés.

📌 8:00 PM – Fine Dining at a Seaside Restaurant

• Enjoy a fine-dining seafood experience at Militzis or Almar Seafood Bar.
• Recommended dish: Fresh Grilled Octopus with Cypriot Commandaria wine.

📌 10:00 PM – Rest & Early Night for Next Day’s Deep Dive

🗓️ Day 2 – Zenobia Wreck Dive Exploration

📌 7:30 AM – Healthy Breakfast & Final Dive Preparation

• Enjoy a light breakfast (Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and coffee) to avoid discomfort underwater.

📌 9:00 AM – Departure from Larnaca Marina (Private Boat to Dive Site)

• Short 15-minute boat ride to the Zenobia wreck (located 1.5km off the coast).
• Final dive gear check and safety briefing onboard.

📌 9:30 AM – First Dive: Exploring the Zenobia’s Upper Deck (16-18m Depth)

• See the massive 172m-long cargo ship lying on its side.
• Swim past the massive propellers and bridge of the wreck.
• Spot large groupers, barracudas, and even turtles around the site.

📌 11:00 AM – Surface Interval & Refreshments Onboard

• Light snacks, hydration, and relaxation on the boat.
• Discuss findings and review underwater photography footage.

📌 12:00 PM – Second Dive: Penetration Dive into Zenobia’s Lower Decks (30-42m Depth) (Advanced Divers Only)

• Swim inside the wreck, seeing sunken trucks still strapped in place.
• Navigate through cargo holds, engine rooms, and control panels.
• Experienced divers can access the crew’s quarters & galley.

📌 1:30 PM – Return to Larnaca & Lunch by the Marina

• Enjoy a well-deserved seafood lunch at a beach restaurant.
• Best option: Freshly grilled seabass with Cypriot mezze at Ammos Beach Bar.

📌 3:30 PM – Relaxation at Larnaca Salt Lake or Private Spa Session (Optional Afternoon Activity)

• Visit Larnaca’s Salt Lake & Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque for a peaceful post-dive walk.
